Thanks for dropping by! Peace and blessings be upon you (ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ). My name is Fadil Iqbal and I am a Dad, Scientist and YouTuber. You can find more about my research on the “Research” page of this website. My PhD is in Bio-Physics and Bio-Imaging and I am currently working as a Research Assistant at IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) in the Physics Department at the School of Science. My goal is to understand the mysterious Chromatin structure which holds our DNA using fancy microscopes. You can find more about my work on the research page.
I started IQ Labs in 2016 in my final year at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. I benefitted immensely from YouTubers who posted videos on how to solve Math problems, explaining concepts in Physics, Mathematics, and Islam. I was inspired by Khan Academy and I wanted to make something similar in Sri Lanka. I will write about the IQ Labs story on a separate blog. It has been a remarkable journey and all praise be to Allah (ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ) for giving me this opportunity to help so many people. I am grateful to my family for their support, my friends who shared my videos and guests who came on my show.

Why Do I do, what I do
I recall a lesson from my Islam teacher (Mrs. Rafeeq) where she quoted a hadith from our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (peace and blessings be upon him):
“When a man dies, his good deeds come to an end, except three: Ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who will pray for him.”
Reference: Sunan an-Nasa’i 3651
Leaving a legacy behind is often encouraged in Islam. It is not necessary for me to be recognized by people or go down in history. I don’t do it for those reasons. Whatever I do, it’s done sincerely for the sake of seeking the pleasure of Allah (سبحانه وتعالى). It does not have to be huge, because it is the intention and effort that matters. The result is decided by Allah and this is why we say In Shaa Allah إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّٰهُ (God willing).
